Style skills, check it.
i had an idea recently. (its kind of long bear with me.. and imaginate).
i imagined styles of fighting, i.e. tiger style, praying mantis and crane style, being applied to your attack chains. more of like an unyielding aura for attack skills than an ursan blessing type of thing. you would have your attack chain of however many skills, and put a style on and it kind of effect your chain. something like this..
tiger style can add alot of piercing damage to your attacks and a little extra armor or increased attack speed.
crane style slashing damage and a little extra ability to block or dodge attacks.
a praying mantis style, adding more weakness with every hit, and more difficulty for enemies to block your attacks.
or picture a drunken monkey style with alot of blocking and dodging capablilty with extra armor or damage while drunk.
a style could even add points of poison or bleeding degen with every attack, something like a buddhas fist type of thing (from iron monkey for reference, my favorite movie). so that if they can get this chain off it will have extra damaging effect.
you could go so far as to have certain styles that have weaknesses or strengths to and against other styles also.. i mean picture it, your on the battlefield and you see another enemy shout "i am using tiger style!" and you would adjust and break out your style to match them up. i think it would be kind of cool and add an extra depth to warriors and sins, being that i think it should be exclusive to warrior and sin primaires (and maybe dervs). and since there are so many styles you can have styles exclusive to canthan characters and nightfall ones and what not.
and last but not least (im sorry it is so long) a 1v1 fighting arena! for these masters of style to get down. its not my fault if you dont have a warrior, sin or dervish to participate.. lol.
let me know what you think. thanks for reading, peace!

The skills and the way they come together ARE the "styles."

Complete agreement.
to the OP:
A martial art style is a combination of techniques sometimes centered around a unifying theme. If you look closely at the sin dagger attacks you will see that what you are asking for is already there. Certain chains are designed to be unblockable. Others do more damage. Others are designed to impede your foe's actions through interrupt or knockdown. All are distinct fighting styles that have strengths and weakness depending on the situation and the target. In fact many of these chains/styles even have animal/insect themes that further show that your suggestion has been in the game since factions' release.
Additional skills that increase the damage output of an already effective chain of skills/build for warriors, sins, or dervs seems excessive to me.

thanks AshenX i understand what a martial art style is, which is why i was thinking about this in the first place.
the point is for it is to be kind of excessive, ursan blessing was excessive when it first came out but it was fun. in retrospect Aera is on point, you could probably just throw them on the end of the stances list. i see them a little deeper than them, a little more agressive. anyways, what you read was as far as i thought about it.
and the 1v1 idea has people scared in any context im not surprised, but the over the top "excessiveness" of this i think would make it fun, and the focus on purely melee vs melee. i dont think one could be really so dominant over the other because of the strengths and weaknesses between them. like a common bar would be a small attack chain, with 2 or 3 styles and a heal or condition removal or something (imaginating ftw). side note: and if they ever have a 1v1 arena for whatever reason (i doubt it, maybe in gw2) people should be able to be in the stands watching, like a normal outpost with an arena in the middle of it or something.
thats all i got on it. they would never put somthing like this in obviously, just something i thought would be cool enough to share. thanks for the replies, and thanks for the valuable input jackinthe.
o and it aint mortal kombat, its kung fu movies maan! and i dunno where you livin but i cant play street fighter 4 yet. i aint tryna go to the mall arcade an jump on the machine.. i dont even think there even is an arcade in there anymore lol.
peace.

In GW. Your "styles" are either stances, or the types of Assassin attacks
Fox=unblockable
Golden=enchantment needing
Falling=attacking kd'd foes
Black=hex needing
Mantis=crippling
etc.etc.
What you want is there, just not how you want it (i.e. there are no/little stances with attack buffs, closest is an IAS)

You said Ursan was fun. That would be the biggest PROBLEM with your idea. I can see Doa now. "LFG 6 Tiger style and 2 HB monks."
